SHULK Amiibo Guide

SHULK
OVERPOWERED TIER

Let me start by saying that if I were to pick any amiibo to be the strongest amiibo in the game so far, it would be Shulk. Shulk's AI is top notch. I know a lot of people were skeptical about how he was going to use his monado arts or if he would even use them at all. Let me just say he uses them almost perfectly. On occasion he will pop the speed one when he doesn't really need it but other than that he will Buster at low percent, Smash at high percent, Jump when knocked off stage and Shield when his % is high. I personally only focused on him using buster and smash properly when I trained him because I didn't want to confuse the AI. He just knows how to use them naturally I think. On top of being able to transform himself to outshine any opponent in any situation, he has an amazing skill set that allows him to deal large amounts of a damage at a long range. His smash attacks kill hard, his down smash covers insane amount of ground and his counter is the most OP amiibo skill in the whole game. You make sure he uses buster at lower percents and that counter destroys amiibos. I've seen him kill another amiibo who was only at 40% with one counter. Keep in mind I do not feed any equipment. This amiibo is godly and I would recommend him 100%. Shulk rarely ever drops a game, his range matched with his ability to change monados to best suit any situation makes him amazing in all match types. He has a perfect amiibo skill set and if trained properly can become a terror vs any opponent.

PROS:
  • Best counter in the game for amiibo fights
  • Monado Arts allow him to transform into whatever he needs to stay alive and get kills
  • Great Range/Great Damage
  • Is a great addition to any match type
  • Probably the most well rounded amiibo
  • Extremely safe approaches and spacing
CONS:
  • He can SD on stages with moving platforms easier than others
  • Easy to gimp on some stages
  • I think his Monado Arts could be ruined if you don't show him how to use them properly.
  • He doesn't really have any other weaknesses
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Focus Grab Training as usual and remember to pummel your grabs
  • Make use of all his aerials, especially his forward and neutral airs
  • MONADO ARTS: Buster at Low Percent, Smash at High Percent, Jump when knocked off Stage, Shield when your HP is high
  • Very important that you allow him to hit you with his Buster on at low percents.
  • You also need to allow him to kill you with Smash Monado at High Percents, this will ensure the amiibo will use these.
  • Make use of his F Smash and Down Smash, both are great. His Up Smash is worth training but not as useful.
  • Teach him how to counter, his counter is so deadly and really punishes amiibos hard, he needs to know how to counter with buster active as well.

  1. Would he be ideal for 8 player amiibo Smash?

  2. When he doesn't have Jump Monado offstage, he will switch to Speed.
