PAST SEASONS
S2: This was a strong debut for the monkey boy. Diddy really made an impressive impact that shook up Amiibo Wars. Alongside Lucario and Rosalina who also joined him in Season 2, the three had an impressive number of Top 3 Finishes throughout the entire season. Though he did get bested in the end, he seemed to be on fire for most of the season, even holding the #1 spot for a while. After this series, Diddy was looking to be a force to be reckoned with.
S3: Season 3 was not the same story. Diddy Kong's effectiveness in the Gauntlet deminished greatly. This season changed up the dynamic greatly, with a slew of newcomers to mix things up. Diddy Kong's star seemed to be fading, his character received nerfs, which in turn effected the performance of the amiibo. This season was a huge drop for him, falling from 4th Place to 17th Place. Not a performance to be proud of.
S4: This season was a redemption for Diddy. though the first few waves he hovered around the bottom of the pack, he made it through and really started to get a rhythm going. After meeting his old rival, Lucario, in a Bottom 3 Blowout with Wario, the two managed to prove they aren't washed up just yet. They secured their spots by showing their experience, moving on to do great things in the season. Both amiibos make it all the way to the Top 8 and Diddy just barely misses the mark for the Final 4. With the fight so close, Diddy ended up finishing in 7th Place for the tournament, which is a major improvement coming out of Season 3. Diddy redeemed himself and proves he can hang with the best of them.
S5: Season 5 goes down as Diddy Kong's worst ever performance. Going from almost eliminating the likes of Mario/Shulk to barely winning a single match in the Challenger Series of Season 5, something seemed very off. Before Season 5 there was a mass retraining session on all of the older amiibos. My method for training had changed and I wanted to make sure all amiibos got trained the same way so that there wasn't any unfair advantage/disadvantages on either side. This new method seemed to be great for some and not so great for others. The once incomparable Diddy Kong was now a shell of his former self. He didn't have that flare he used to have and I began to worry that he probably would never rival the top amiibos again. In Season 5, Diddy Kong didn't make the Top 20 for the first time ever and overall had one of the Top 3 worst scores for the entire series. It was bad, I feared that he may turn into a low tier amiibo.
S6: Season 6 renewed my faith in Diddy Kong. He made valiant improvements in his skills and I was starting to see the Diddy I seen from the get go. Coming back with a vengeance, Diddy Kong smoked the competition in his Wildcard Placement gaining the top spot for his group, and eliminated two major competitors before they even had a chance to show what they are made of. He has pushed himself to the Challenger Series with ease and his chances of making it back to the Top 20 are looking pretty great right now.
