LUCAS Amiibo Guide

LUCAS
VERY STRONG TIER

I'm sure the question on everyone's mind is "Is Lucas On Par With Ness?!" and the answer is No. Lucas is a great amiibo, don't get me wrong, but everything Lucas can do.... Ness does it better. PK Pulse>PK Freeze, Ness Aerials>Lucas Aerials, Ness PK Thunder>Lucas PK Thunder. The only major thing Lucas has going for him in comparison to Ness is his insanely powerful Up Smash. Lucas' Up Smash is probably one of the best Amiibo Smash Attacks in the game. Now away from the comparison to Ness, Lucas proves to be quite a threat in the amiibo world. His moveset is very effective against most amiibos... Do I think he could stack up to "Overpowered" amiibos? Not really, but in comparison to all of the other ones, I'd say he's pretty far up the chain, if not at the top. Lucas does have some great moves in his arsenal, such as his True Combo with Down Throw into Up Air, his Lingering Neutral Air and PK Thunder which doesn't rival Ness' but still puts out quite a punch in battle. From what I've gathered, his weaknesses lie in his shorter range and lag on some of his abilities, which may leave him vulnerable. He is a high risk high reward amiibo and my eye is firmly set on him to see if he actually may be able to rival Ness and the other "Overpowerd" Amiibos. At first glance I don't think he can, but he's definitely a worthy contender to the majority, I just think I need a little more time to truly know where he stands.

PROS:
  • Great Damage Output
  • Uncounterable Recovery
  • Insanely Powerful Smash Attacks
  • Lingering Hit Boxes
  • Two Powerful Kill Throws
CONS:
  • Doesn't realize PK Thunder cant go through platforms
  • Weak/Short Ranged Aerials, Hard To Land
  • Clone Skills To Ness are Weaker In Comparison
  • Very Squishy
  • Doesn't follow up when a PK Freeze lands
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • As always make sure to Grab and Pummel often
  • Train him to play more defensively, Shield into Up Smash will be his strongest asset
  • Teach him to PK Thunder into opponents, make sure he knows what percents to kill with it
  • Utilize his PK Fire for spacing and damage
  • Use of Zair is fine, he will use it on occasion
  • Teach him to Utilize his Down Throw into Up Air at lower percents for a True Combo
  • Teach him to kill with Back Throw and Up Throw at higher percents
  • Don't bother as much with PK Freeze, he doesn't land it as often and can't ledge guard with it like Ness can with PK Pulse
  • Utilize his Neutral Air more than others, the amiibo can rack up a lot of damage with this skill
  • Utilize all other aerials equally and make sure he knows he can kill with them
  • Utilize all Smash Attacks, make sure he knows he can kill with them
  • Make sure he knows to use Down B to absorb projectiles
