AMIIBO WARS: (S6 PRESEASON) WILDCARD #6

AMIIBO WARS WILDCARD #6 (SEASON 6 PRESEASON)
(COMPLETED)
*UPDATED 4/5*

AMIIBO WARS Wildcard is upon us, once again. In the last group was saw ANOTHER Amiibo Wars Top Player out early. (Check it out here!) I can't believe so many Top 20's from Season 5 have been dropping like flies. This next group is looking pretty good for a couple Amiibo Wars Veterans who will most likely smoke through this group. There are also a few Wildcards not to be counted out so quickly. This one will be interesting because I honestly have no idea how it will play out. I think I have a good idea about 2 of them advancing, but the other spot is completely up in the air. Wildcard #6 is on the way!

WILDCARD #6 COMPETITORS

LAST SEASON we saw an amiibo go from the top to the bottom, two underdogs push their way through the Top 20, and a newcomer failed to make an impact. Also, two new amiibos start their Amiibo Wars Career here at Wildcard #6. BOWSER has seen his fair share of success in Amiibo Wars, but last season was a career low. He was out in the first round and unable to compete in the Top 20, coming right off of a 2nd place finish from Season 4. Proof that not every amiibo can consistently hold their place at the Top. Bowser is looking to redeem himself, and I think he will do just that in this group. MII BRAWLER makes his debut in Season 6, can he do what the Gunner and Swordsman couldn't, and at least advance? I think he has a good shot. I don't think this group is quite as competitive as the last, so we could see an underdog squeeze through the cracks. WARIO had a surprising showing last season. When I completely expected him out in the preseason, he proved me wrong. His Top 20 start was pretty rocky, he hovered around the bottom of the pack til his elimination, but he fought hard to stay in the game, and even survived some brutal elimination scares. Ultimately he landed in 15th for the season, which IMO is very commendable. Judging from Wario's past experience, he thrives in Team/FFA matches, so I think if he makes it to the Top 20 this season, he could make it even farther than he did in the last one. BOWSER JR didn't have a lot of opportunities to show his skills. He came into Season 5 very green with little training and it showed, I think he will do better this season since he's got more matches under his belt since then. Do I expect him to make it out? Not really, but you just never know who's going to shine in Amiibo Wars these days. GAME & WATCH makes his debut in Season 6. He hasn't had a ton of practice, but from what I've seen, I think he has potential to do really well here. I thought his AI was pretty good, and his skill set could give him some advantages. He's definitely going to be one I watch this season. IKE is another example of a down and out amiibo making a great comeback. Last Season he had a strong showing in the Preseason and even held his own against the Top 20 competition. Ike managed to make it all the way to 12th, following a terrible Season 4 performance where he was one of the first amiibos to be eliminated. He made great strides as an Amiibo Wars Veteran, and has greatly improved. I definitely expect him to advance, but judging from the past, my predictions haven't been the most accurate. Wildcard #6 is interesting because I have less of an idea who will shine/flop than any other group so far. Phase 1 is up next, stay tuned!

WILDCARD PHASE 1

BOWSER once again proves that 1v1's are not his strong suit. Even though he has a history of being one of the best Team/FFA competitors, if you can't hang in a 1v1 without being carried by equipment, you're not going to get anywhere in Amiibo Wars. Apparently Bowser is amazing with Equipment, but without it, the records speak for themselves. If put in a situation where he has to fight 1v1 to save himself, he almost never does. That being said, we've seen amiibos come back from horrible 1v1's in Phase 2 and advance, so if Bowser can make it to the Top 20, I think he has a great chance of winning this season. The 1v1's are definitely his weakness, and may once again put him out early.

MII BRAWLER doesn't have the best debut. Still green and working on his technique, he did better than I expected him to. He put up a good fight in most match ups but was struggling to get kills. 2 out of 5 isn't horrible, he still has a reasonably good chance to make it up in Phase 2. Sadly, I'm not so sure he can do well in Phase 2. I don't have a ton of experience watching this amiibo, but I know his recovery is pretty weak and that is a huge detriment in the Phase 2 Matches. Wildcard has been full of surprises though, so who knows?

WARIO does what he always does, skates right above mediocrity. In Amiibo Wars, Wario has a reputation of skating by as far as he can get. Typically this has gotten him fairly far, but he never makes it all the way. With 3 out of 5 wins, he has a good chance of making it out of this group. Considering he doesn't have a super difficult set of opponents, I think he could definitely be advancing.

BOWSER JR also has an above average showing. Comparing to his debut last season, I think he has definitely improved. He put up a good fight in all of his matches, and is looking like he could definitely be a contender for Top 3 in this group. I still don't have a good idea if he will perform well in Phase 2, but I think he has potential. Bowser Jr is one I have my eye on this season, I think he will only get better and better the more matches he plays.

GAME & WATCH has an underwhelming debut. He did "okay" in most matches but he was really struggling to finish stocks and got too far behind to make a comeback. It could be that he's still a little too green, or it could be that his skill set isn't doing him enough favors. Either way, he's had a pretty bad score and the chances of him making it out of this group are slim. He will definitely need to pull out all the stops in the next phase to advance.

IKE destroys the group. The 2nd amiibo to landslide the Phase 1 Matches this season and is proving to me just how strong of a competitor he is in Amiibo Wars. I definitely think Ike will be making it back to the Top 20 for Season 6 and I'm even going to predict a Top 10 finish. It could be a stretch, but I think Ike has what it takes to do really well in Season 6. Points are looking close in this group, so I think Phase 2 will be a definite deciding factor. With only Ike sitting pretty after this group, who knows who will be advancing. Phase 2 is coming up next!

WILDCARD PHASE 2

PHASE 2 is going to determine everything in this group. Aside from Ike's amazing performance in the first phase, everyone else's scores are pretty close. Two spots remain in the Top 3 for a chance at advancing. With Ike so far ahead in points, I don't think there is any way he will drop out of the Top 3, even if he doesn't win any matches. Bowser Jr and Wario won't have to work too hard to advance but Mii Brawler is close behind. Bowser and Game & Watch will need to do major work to get out of this group, which would require them to win all 3 matches. Anything is possible, this group is very hard to predict, are you ready for Phase 2? It's up next!

THE RESULTS ARE IN!

WILDCARD #6 MVP

IKE really showed his experience in this group. He exterminated the competition in the 1v1 phase, which secured his spot in the top 3. Managing 1 out of 3 in Phase 2 made it 100% certain he would be advancing. Ike didn't do quite as well in Phase 2, maybe he didn't feel a need to, but he's definitely going to have to up his game in the future if he plans to make it to the end. The next group certainly won't be as easy as this one.

REDEMPTION AND ANOTHER STOLEN SPOT!!

BOWSER JR. was really impressive this time around. He put up a fight in all of his 1v1's and even got revenge on Ike in Phase 2 which secured his spot in the Top 3. Bowser Jr. performed pretty good in the Team Matches and I think he deserved this advancement. Do I think he has a chance of making it far? Not really, but I'm definitely seeing improvement, and I wouldn't be surprised if he atleast makes it to Top 20. MII BRAWLER steals away Wario's 3rd place spot. 1 point separated the two and I feel like Brawler may have just been lucky with his Teammates in Phase 2. He managed to get both Ike and Bowser on his Team Matches. I think this helped him because of his inability to finish stocks was no longer an issue with two killing machines to finish the job. I don't see him getting far, I don't think he's strong enough to hang with the big dogs, and I suspect he will be out before Top 20. He could prove me wrong, but my faith in him is pretty low.

THE END OF THE ROAD

WARIO was looking good in this group, but his mediocrity finally bit him in the ass early. I felt like his team performances were great, he just couldn't carry the teammates he was given. So if he can't even do that, he doesn't belong in the Top 20 anyway. That's what Season 6 is going to be all about. I felt like Mii Brawler got lucky and stole his spot away, but it's randomized, so nothing can be done about it. Wario is a pretty good Amiibo Wars contender and can take games off the best of them, he's proved it in the past and I'm sure he will continue to do pretty well in the future. BOWSER once again drops the ball. He went from a hero to a zero real quick in Amiibo Wars. I know people are probably shocked because he's viewed so highly in the "Equipment" Amiibo World, but Bowser just really isn't anything special in "Vanilla". He's too slow to match the stronger/faster amiibos and his only real strength is team/ffa matches. If he can't manage to atleast do a decent job in his 1v1's then he's never going to get anywhere in Amiibo Wars. Back when he made it to 2nd Place in Season 4, the whole tournament was a mix between team/ffa/1v1's and I think that's what carried him to the end. GAME & WATCH showed his inexperience here. Yes I know, I always say this, but it's just the reality for newer amiibos. They start at the bottom and they have to develop their strategies to advance themselves in this series. Some of the best amiibos in Amiibo Wars now, started out losing a lot and struggling. It's just the nature of the beast and I think Game & Watch does have the potential to get places once he gains more experience and skill. Only a handful of amiibos remain and some big names have yet to compete. Another exciting edition of Amiibo Wars Wildcard is on the way soon, keep an eye out!!

    1. Yea, he still has a chance, but typically new amiibos struggle in their first tournament.

    2. Man, that's a shame that my main didn't make it.

(Still salty that Lucas stole Doc's spot. :P)

    3. He'll prob do better next season, you gotta start somewhere right? Typically the newer ones just can't match the experience of the ones that've been doing it for a year or more.

If you read Season 5, Doctor Mario did really well in his debut. I don't really know what held him back this time around.
