PAST SEASONS
S2: Kirby has a pretty weak start in Amiibo Wars. Mostly because of glitches with the amiibo, forcing him to prioritize his neutral b wayyy too much, made him almost useless. He won a few matches but he lost wayyy more than he won. I definitely considered retirement for him, but luckily I didn't because later on, fixes to the amiibo made him better.
S3: Season 3 is where I feel like Kirby's career in Amiibo Wars really began. He had a great placement and really battled to hold a top spot in the gauntlet. Kirby was looking much stronger after the fixes and he seemed to be in a pretty good spot overall. By the end of the tournament, he finished Season 3 in 8th Place. At this point I was really expecting him to go even further and actually compete at the top of the pack.
S4: In Season 4, Kirby almost took down the reigning champion Mario in the first round of the tournament/ This would've destroyed his ranking. By the skin of his teeth, Mario managed to hang on and Kirby, who dominated the group was looking great. Sadly, as the next wave rolled around, Kirby was placed in a grueling group of Top Tier Amiibos, in which someone had to be eliminated. Sometimes the randomness of the groups can be a bit unfair, but thats the nature of the tournament series, you gotta beat the odds. In a nail biting tie breaker, Kirby was forced to face Pit to stay in the game, and ultimately lost. This put him in 21st place, a devastating blow to his rankings.
S5: In the first ever Challenger Series, Kirby was once again placed in the harder group and struggled against some of the elite top tier amiibos. Even though he took down Mario once again, it wasn't enough for him to really stand a chance. Kirby seems to have an edge over some top tier amiibos but the mid tier amiibos seem to dominate him. It's kind of strange. I think he has more of a niche counter playstyle thats only effective against some, and it's really holding him back in Amiibo Wars. Though some amiibos can make up for their 1v1 failures in Phase 2, Kirby missed the mark there as well, ultimately sealing his fate. Another bad performance means another dip in the rankings. Kirby is in quite the slump at this point.
S6: Finally, Kirby is placed into a group that's more his speed. Dominating both phases, Kirby came out with top points for the Wildcard Preseason event and managed to advance to the Challenger Series. I think that he could possibly have a chance at making it to the Top 20 depending on who he faces in the Challenger Series. Kirby is pretty hit or miss and his skill set seems to only work against some. It will be interesting to see how things play out for him this season. Stay tuned for updates!
