PAST SEASONS

S1: Pikachu started off pretty strong. Though he didn't quite force himself into the battle between Link/Marth for the Championship, he definitely looked to be holding his own against the originals. Some of the amiibo's flaws may have held him back but he did a good job for the most part. He seemed to have a good grasp on the more gimmicky match types rather than 1v1's, but in a 1v1 his avoidance and persistent off stage harass allowed him to get quite a few wins.

S2: Season 2 was more of the same. He came out on top in quite a few of the events, but he wasn't quite in the running for the top spots. Just out of his reach, Pikachu dreamed of being a star, but he just didn't ever seem  to get there. A few flaws in his AI is what I think may have been holding him back. A little too much priority on moves that weren't getting him anywhere made it hard for him to make major progress in Amiibo Wars. Pikachu ended Season 2 in 5th Place. Pretty impressive considering the influx of new amiibos. Pikachu didn't seem to waver, holding on to his position in the rankings.

S3: Season 3 saw changes to amiibos, including some bug fixes for a lot of them who needed it. Sadly for Pikachu, his flaws weren't addressed and were still persistent. Also, this season I decided to do a mass retraining so all amiibos would be in the same playing field. Some amiibos really benefited from this, and some took a hit. Pikachu did not do well with the new training method. His performance was abysmally bad, and he fell very far in the rankings. Season 3 was the start of a very bad fall for Pikachu, who went from 5th Place to 21st Place. This may have been a fluke, and I was hoping he would just take a little more time to get back to where he was.

S4: Season 4 went a little better for Pikachu. He was getting top scores in some of the waves and now that the tournament was more focused on a variety of match types, it seemed to play more into his wheelhouse, as well as the majority of amiibos in general. As the competitors dwindled down, Pikachu was left in a rough group that he was a little outmatched in. This became more of a trend, that Pikachu almost always came out strong in the beginning, but towards the end of the season, he'd fizzle out. He finishes the season in 13th Place. This was a big step up from last season.

S5: The Challenger Series definitely flipped things upside down for a lot of amiibos. In Season 5, the groups were huge. (later seasons made the groups smaller for more of a chance to prove themselves.) With these groups having such a wide array of talent, the struggle in the 1v1 phase was too much for some of them. Pikachu is notorious for having spotty 1v1 scores, but does decently in FFA/Team Matches. With Phase 2 being so even, his weak 1v1 scores put him out of the Top 5 and forced into a very early elimination. This destroyed his rating and I'm not so sure he will be able to come back from it. Pikachu may be doomed to a Mid Tier Career.

S6: Season 6 saw the implementation of the Wildcard Preseason. With so many amiibos, it's easier to just have a preseason to dwindle down the numbers before the Challenger Series. Sadly for Pikachu, he was placed in one of the harder groups and got absolutely decimated. He only won one 1v1 Match and even though he performed well in Phase 2, it wasn't enough to get him an advancement spot. Pikachu once again fails to impress, he may just be too washed up to make a comeback. But I could be wrong.
