BOWSER Amiibo Guide

BOWSER
VERY STRONG TIER

When I first started training amiibos, I felt like slower amiibos weren't really as good as faster ones. But the added damage to their attacks means when they actually land attacks, they can kill lightweights VERY FAST. All it takes is one good combo sometimes to even out a match. Bowser imo is probably the best heavy considering he is the heaviest character and his smash attacks do sooo much damage and knockback if he can get a good read. However, Bowser has an obsession with using his side b relentlessly if he feels thats all he can land. Considering how much they shield it tends to be an option he goes to a lot. If Bowser can get away with using this move over and over without being punished, he will. Bowser is good in many ways, he has a few fast aerials that hit really hard and his smashes are devastating. But Bowser can struggle vs some of the top tier amiibos in 1v1s. Some amiibos can run circles around him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't stand any chance of beating them. I've seen Bowser beat my best amiibos in 1v1s because of his deadly smashes, his hard hitting aerials and of course his command grab. He shines in Free For Alls and Teams, he's definitely one of the best because the chances of him catching an opponent off guard is much higher. He scored 2nd place out of 32 contestants in my a recent Amiibo Wars tournament season. Considering someone was eliminated permanently every round, to survive 30 eliminations says a lot about his strength. Bowser is considered one of the best, if not the best in the Equipment Feeding world, but I feel as a Vanilla Amiibo, his slow speed keeps him from being at the tip top even though he's very strong.

PROS:

  • Very Heavy
  • Hits like a truck
  • Kill Throw
  • Command Grab
  • Strong in Team/Free For All Matches
CONS:
  • Can get in a habit of spamming his side b
  • Struggles in 1v1s against fast opponents
  • Very slow
  • Trouble landing smash attacks
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Grab often and pummel, show him he can kill with back throw
  • Utilize all aerials, show him he can kill with them
  • Utilize all smash attacks, show him he can kill with them
  • Use Flame Breath to rack up damage as opponents approach
  • Make sure not to use Side B too much but show it to him as an option
  • Don't bother much with his down b, he rarely uses it

  1. As someone that his best Amiibo is Bowser (Maybe along with my Donkey Kong), I don't think him spamming side B is bad because it do so much damage (Around 30) and it kill pretty early, lol. But seriously, it fight very well, whenever perfect shielding often, using Up-Smash at enemies above the ground, or even using down-B's slow startup to avoid attacks in the air. It's really a monster. Even if I keep juggling, comboing him with my mains Yoshi and Mr. Game And Watch (Not amiibos, myself playing), he'll just quickly catch up with a powerful kill move.
