ROBIN Amiibo Guide

ROBIN
OVERPOWERED TIER

Robin has a few minor flaws but overall he's great and has immense potential. I do however feel like he needs a little more work to get to his peak. For a while now I've been debating moving him up, but kept him in "Very Strong" because it took him a little while to ramp up. In "Vanilla", Robin is 100% a top tier amiibo. His Team/FFA record is almost unrivaled, he can hold his own in a 1v1 and has some special abilities setting him above the rest. Robin's ability to drain HP and Heal himself is a MAJOR advantage in the "No Equipment" Amiibo World. He has almost every base covered in terms of damage output at range and up close. Also, his aerials are some of the strongest in the whole game with Levin Sword. Robin does have a couple of issues in early training. He will charge his neutral b and hold on to it, never casting it and sometimes just jumps in the air and blasts it randomly. Robin also doesn't seem to know his ranges when he is without his Levin Sword Sometimes he will try to smash with bronze sword and won't be in range to hit, thinking he still has his Levin. But these can be fixed easily with proper training. You may have to spot train him a few times but it's no big deal. Other than those 2 minor flaws I feel he's an exceptional amiibo worth placing a lot of effort into. I like the mechanic with the Levin Sword, it adds a lot of damage for the amiibo on his aerials and smash attacks making them very powerful. He has a kill throw at higher percents, and he is pretty consistent. Though he struggles in some match ups, he definitely thrives in most. His life stealing command grab can really turn a match around. He is a step above pretty much all of the amiibos in the game, and has a few tricks up his sleeve that set him apart from the rest. He's amazing and I've considered putting him higher for a long time. I honestly think he's incredible, and I think even in the Tournament World, he could be great, if given the right equipment.

PROS:
  • Levin Sword mechanic is great with the added damage to amiibos
  • Can steal % from opponents and lower his with his Down B Command Grab
  • Great Aerials
  • Great Smash Attacks
  • Has Great Long-Mid Range Options
  • Probably The Best FFA/Team Match Amiibo
  • Kill Throw
CONS:
  • Will charge neutral b and not use it, requires more work than others
  • Magic goes on cooldown and AI doesn't realize this
  • AI has problems with range when his Levin Sword is on cooldown, maybe training him with Bronze Sword will help.
  • Has trouble against hard hitting rush down
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Train him to use his sword with/without his levin on cooldown or AI may run into range issues
  • Utilize his aerials, they are great
  • AI is good at landing Down B on amiibos considering it's a command grab so I'd suggest teaching it to him, he can steal a lot of percent using this
  • Make sure he knows how to use all charges of his Neutral B and knows he can kill with them.
  • Jab Combo Lingers and is good to teach them for punishing dodges and shields
  • Robin will also use his Fire Jab as a kill option if taught
  • Combo close range Side B into a Forward Smash
  • Always Focus Grabs and Pummel them
  • Back throw can kill at high percents

  1. Robin is very flexible and adaptive to enemies. Mine switches one on one matches between melee and long range fight and burst every enemy with backthrow or thoron 2. Even my unbeatable shulk can't handle the robin...

    1. Yea even my Robin can beat Shulk but typically by the time he gets him down to his last stock, Shulk will start playing defensive and bait him into counters. Robin is awesome though. The only reason I don't move him up is his issues with amiibos like Mario and Little Mac who stay on top of him. He struggles a lot in those situations.

  2. My Robin just pulled out the sickest combo on me. And he's only level 15.

  3. i know this is probably way outdated but my robin can pull a quadruple fair combo so afterwards he can just side B and down B to get me to about 80%
