SHEIK Amiibo Guide

SHEIK
STRONG TIER

Sheik imo is the most fun to watch because this amiibo is so flashy! The problem with Sheik isn't really her damage output, it's the fact that she struggles to kill. You will really need to train her on her kill options, because she won't learn naturally how to do this. Sheik can develop a few problems if you aren't careful in training her. One of which is throwing grenades a lot if you aren't careful. She's not even really that good at landing them sometimes. She  will throw out her side b and wait for a role to detonate it. The problem is, the role doesn't come, it's just her getting punished for free. You also need to be careful using her jab, she will spam it if you do it too much or get hit with it too much, to a point where you might as well just reset her. Sheik is an awesome character but she requires a good bit of effort to make her good. You will need to teach her to use her tilts and aerials a lot, you need to be using your needles at range and you have to show her multiple true combos. Even with all of this, her aerials need to be sweet spotted to kill, typically at very high percents and her smash attacks aren't the best for an amiibo, considering it takes a lot to kill with them. If Sheik had a kill throw she'd be godly but sadly that isn't the case. She does have one kill option that is pretty unorthodox but it works, mine did it all the time before I reset her. Basically you up b over the ledge where they are edge guarding and it will spike them at high percents. My amiibo did this constantly and the amiibos don't seem to shield it. Combos I think come in handy are teaching her to forward throw into bouncing fish and her down throw to up air is a true combo that works at low-mid percents. Sheik can also juggle with her up tilt. Her biggest strength is her speed and evasiveness. She becomes so slippery and difficult to finish off. This really works in her favor in a lot of matchups. My Sheik has recently been rivaling some of my best amiibos, so though she may take a little more work than others, this amiibo can turn out very well and I don't think her weaknesses are game breaking. I think she's an amiibo that gets better with time, and once you get her to that point, she can be a strong choice.

PROS:
  • Very Quick and Evasive
  • Difficult to Kill
  • Great Aerials
  • Great Long-Mid-Short Range Options
  • Needles can rack up a lot of percent
  • True Combos
CONS:
  • Weak Kill Options
  • Terrible Smash Attacks
  • Can become very spammy to the point she needs reset
  • No Kill Throws
  • Requires knowledge of the character to make her good
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Utilize all aerials and show her she can kill with them
  • Teach her to down throw into up air at low-mid percents
  • Teach her to forward throw into bouncing fish and show her she can kill with it
  • Teach her to juggle with her up tilt at lower percents
  • Up Tilt into F Air is a combo she will do at lower percents
  • Focus needles at long range, charge them completely
  • Use Side B sparingly, show her she can kill with it at high percents, do not run into this skill over and over when training her, this is how she becomes spammy
  • Use her jab sparingly, I wouldn't suggest using it much at all, do not keep running into her jabs when training, it will lead to her spamming it
  • Good Kill Option: Teach her to up b over the ledge and kill her opponent with it, she did this a lot because the amiibos don't see it coming while they are ledge guarding
  • She is a safe option for gimping offstage if you want to train her to gimp
  • Utilize all smashes, show her she can kill with them, even though they suck, F Smash is the most viable kill option.

  1. Is there anyway that I can get her to stop spamming Burst Grenade? I don't even use it and she still spams it. I'm trying to make sure she never uses it. Everytime she does, I just reset the game. But then when I'm at the level 20 part, she still just uses it. Is Side B just hardcoded into her?

    1. I had a problem with this and her spamming jab the first time I trained her. Yes it's hard coded but it's not overpowering. The reason she uses it is because it doesn't have too much counter play and it can kill at high percents. My advice would be to find a way to punish her as she's doing it or try not to get hit by that and allow her to land the moves you want her to do. Amiibos roll with what works and is most efficient for them to do damage. If they have the opportunity to kill you with a spammed move they will do it. This is why I prefer my self training method, it lessens the chance of them spamming which in turn forces them to look for other damage options. I suggest putting her against same lvl amiibos, they will straighten her out as long as you've given her a strong skill base to work with

    2. Alright. Is the reason why she's an Average and not Weak is because her weaknesses can be fixed? Because I know a lot of the Weak amiibos have weaknesses that can't be fixed.

    3. Yea. The ones I put in weak tier have game breaking weaknesses. Shiek's weaknesses aren't really game breaking and can be fixed. That's also why I moved Wii Fit Trainer up. I've trained Shiek 3 times and 2 out of 3 times she turned out well. Hell she made the Top 15 out of 44 in my tournament series. She also has an advantage in that she's extremely slippery and a lot of amiibos struggle to even hit her, so I feel like that helps her quite a bit.

  2. Can you further explain the Up-B kill that you mentioned while edge-guarding? Is off the ledge or on the ledge, because when you mentioned the word "spike", I was thinking off the ledge.
