LUCINA Amiibo Guide

LUCINA
VERY STRONG TIER

I have watched many videos and read a lot about the Lucina amiibo. Many people have said she is their strongest amiibo, and I can see why. Lucina fits into the category of characters who have counters. IMO the Counter Mechanic is very strong in the amiibo world. Though hers isn't the strongest, it's a great one and she knows how to use it. Lucina's speed and damage, along with the ability to counter, place her in a very strong position. In my tournaments she very quickly climbed to the top and is one of my best. I think because she is a lot faster than Marth and hits a little harder, she has more of an advantage. While Marth adapts to opponents more slowly, Lucina doesn't seem to struggle as much. You have to show her kill options or she will have issues finishing opponents off. Other than that she's extremely solid and can be molded into an unstoppable force. She is borderline Overpowered in that she can take games off the best of them, sometimes easily. But I don't think her win percentages are  as consistent as the ones sitting at the top. As far as all of the other amiibos, she's a cut above the rest and a very strong choice indeed.

PROS:
  • Quick and relentless
  • AI adapts quickly
  • Hits really hard
  • Has a strong counter attack
  • Can break shields with her Neutral B
  • Dancing Blade on an amiibo is amazing, she combos it perfectly every time
  • True Combo
CONS:
  • No tippers
  • Shorter range than Marth
  • Squishy
  • Has a habit of racking up damage and not killing if not taught options
  • Will spam counter if you use it too much
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Dancing Blade is the amiibos bread and butter, she will do it perfectly and combo it, amiibos who try to air dodge this will get caught in it almost every time
  • Teaching her to counter is important. Also show her it's a kill option but dont abuse it too much
  • Teach her how to shield break with her Neutral B and punish with a full charged F Smash
  • Aerials are very important, especially her forward air for safe harrass
  • Grabs and pummeling are always important to teach every amiibo
  • Will combo Down Throw into Up Air at low-mid percents

  1. Had a hard time getting her to use the counter even after level 50 and even though she wins all the time 1v1 but after one match in which I hit her counters to win the match, she began using it more often while still maintaining with what I trained her to do

    1. Yea, they learn much quicker when they are landing the attacks. You have to let them beat on you sometimes. :P

  3. My Lucina doesn't seem to know that her Up Throw can kill, I have trouble teaching her true combos and how to correctly use Shield Breaker (especially in air), and she has trouble hitting small opponents with her aerials. What could I do ?

    1. I don't think I've ever seen this amiibo use Up Throw to kill. Either way, she's got many other strengths. Shield Breaker is something she will do randomly and not as often as other things. Amiibo's aren't really as complex as we all hoped they would be. They are going to stick to a handful of tactics to ensure they land damage and get kills. Lucina Amiibo uses a lot of Counters/Side B/Aerials. Her best true combo is down throw to up air, she will do this at lower percents.

She's not going to play perfectly the way you want her to, she's just going to focus on the moves/combos she has the easiest time landing, that pretty much goes for all amiibos. If she struggles to land a move or combo, she will rarely use it, or not use it at all.
