LUCARIO
STRONG TIER
Lucario has a lot of potential to be one of your best amiibos. That being said, this amiibo requires a lot of work. My Lucario when I first trained him liked to spam uncharged aura spheres in the air and if you aren't careful he will get in a habit of spamming aerials and jumping around like crazy not really doing anything. The more I had him fight other Amiibos, he got wayyy stronger and became an absolute monster. You have to teach him to charge his aura spheres and make sure he knows he can kill with them. If you can get him to play safe at high percents like mine does, he is an unstoppable machine, well worthy of being a Top Tier Amiibo. He needs to be taught kill options or he really struggles with killing. Considering his mechanics, that's not good for him. He can be a true terror, but considering he requires a lot of extra attention, he may not turn out as strong as you hope he does. My suggestion is to teach him Down Throw/Up Air-Forward Air combo, grab often and pummel your grabs to rack up damage early until they are in kill range, then try to kill them with a Smash Attack or charged Aura Sphere. You really want to keep this amiibo on the ground and focus grabs, b moves and smash attacks. If he starts spamming aerials he will be ineffective and it's hard to get him to stop doing that once he's trained. When he is at high percent, focus on using Side B's at distance as well as using charged Aura Spheres. When they get in close, trap them with Down/Forward/Up Smash. This worked well for me considering every time I have retrained him he reverted back to an awful state til I started working with him and spot training him. Lucario amiibo hits HARD and if he gets a stock lead it's almost insured he will win. He can be your best amiibo if you want to put the work into him, but if you get lazy he will turn out weak and probably not perform the way you'd like him to.
PROS:
- His great Rage Mechanic allows him to turn the tides and gain momentum
- Has one of the best recoveries in the game
- Has a Counter, it's not as good as others but it does the job sometimes
- Great Range and Projectiles
- Can do Insane Damage and Kill early
- Has True Combos
- If he gets ahead a stock, it's almost a sure win
CONS:
- Requires extra attention to be good
- Too many aerials will ruin him
- Shoots off uncharged Aura Spheres at random
- AI needs your help to be a dominate force
- If he gets behind a stock, he will typically struggle to make a comeback
TRAINING MUSTS:
- Grab and pummel often for racking up damage and keeping distance
- Teach him to charge Aura Spheres and show him he can kill with them on and off the stage.
- Make sure he knows his kill options or he will struggle
- Play evasive in Rage Mode allowing him to rack up damage without taking much
- Play evasive by charging and shooting Aura Spheres and using Side B's until at range to grab or smash attack
- Teach him to use and kill with all smash attacks
- True Combo at early percents, Down Throw into Up Air or Forward air, he will do this combo
I have a greninja amiibo that I have been training for well over a month now and he would occasionally get into the habit of randomly short hopping to forward airing and going completely over the enemies and would basically jump around a lot and I got him to stop doing this (he was past lvl 50 when I trained him out of it in case you wanted to know) by mirror matching him and staying on the ground and not dashing but walking and using all tilts and smashes and I would occasionally grab when there was the opportunity or use some special or punishing with a quick dash attack and it learned to stop jumping so much and started to dominate the stage and take stage control. I’m suggesting probably trying this for the lucario amiibo when ever he starts attempting to dish too many aerials. I also noticed that the punishing with an up smash strat for preventing them from using aerials isn’t very effective. I personally haven’t gotten a lucario amiibo yet but I am planning on it so please correct me if I’m wrong
ReplyDeleteI also did not give my greninja any equipment or custom move when i taught it this. 100% vannila.
DeleteA quick dash attack isn't the only way to stop this. I had a lucario amiibo that kept spamming aerials and grabbing, or a quick dash attack isn't the best choice all the time. Imo, the best way to do this is to adapt to his options, and punish the amiibo's mistakes in the most reasonable way. You can also shield and counter if the amiibo keeps on doing aerials. You may know this, but if you screw up with a lucario amiibo, it's going to be hard to fix the mistakes.
