VILLAGER Amiibo Guide

VILLAGER
STRONG TIER

This amiibo will be scary if you do it right. I've seen a lot of people say Villager is their best and I can see why. Villager has a lot of options close and far range and his ledge guard is scary good. He really benefits from the amiibo damage boost and he doesn't really struggle in many matchups. Don't spam his forward smash too much. Because it does so much damage he will prioritize this move over his other ones if you use it too much. He will literally spam it over and over so be careful. Other than that he's very solid and I think he's pretty easy to train. PS- Teaching him to F Smash over the ledge is really strong. Villager is a consistently strong amiibo in my tournaments and always hovers around the top 10.

PROS:
  • Small and harder to hit
  • Very Strong Skill Set
  • Good Aerials and Smash Attacks
  • Probably the best ledge guard of any amiibo
  • Great Recovery
  • Kill Throw
CONS:
  • Will spam F Smash if you use it too much
  • Squishy and dies easy
  • Can struggle vs Hard Hitters
  • AI doesn't seem to know how to use the tree
  • Can become spammy with f air
TRAINING MUSTS:
  • Focus Grabs and Pummel them
  • Utilize Aerials but don't over use
  • Neutral Air(Can Kill), Up Air, Down Air are great, he will spam f air and b air if used too much. The amiibo jumps too high to land it a lot of the time so you don't want him spamming it
  • Make sure he uses his Side B at range
  • Grab and back throw off stage, then F Smash over the ledge, back throw can also kill at higher percents
  • Utilize all of his smash attacks
  • Don't focus on the tree, he doesn't use it at all and when he does, he will plant it and not water it (Been informed that Timber Counter custom will atleast allow some benefit to the move by adding a tripping mechanic to the sprout, try that out!)

  1. One thing that helps a lot is to use the Timber Counter custom. This takes advantage of Villager only planting the sapling. If people step on the sapling, it will cause them to trip. I taught him to just plant around occasionally sort of like Pac Man's hydrant.

    1. Well considering he doesn't really use the tree at all, that could definitely help! Thanks for sharing! :)
