AMIIBO WARS: Season 4 Amiibo Championship (PERMA-ELIMINATION!!)

FROM humble beginnings, Amiibo Wars has been a legendary fight between heroes. The original 6 were Marth/Pikachu/Link/Zelda/Peach/Mario. Season 1 saw  these 6 amiibos battle it out to become the first amiibo champion. This Season was point based and brought a variety of match types. Winning matches and tournaments was the only way to secure your position and win the prize. With a clash of titans at the top, Marth and Link gave it their all to become the first winner of the Amiibo Wars. But in the end, it was Link who was able to pull ahead of the competition, and secure his victory as the Season 1 Champion!

WITH Season 2, came many new challengers. The competition more than tripled in contenders fighting for the Amiibo Wars championship. This season, much like season 1 was based on points. Modfications were made so that winning more matches lead to more success and losing more matches was a huge detriment. With Newcomers Rosalina and Lucario dominating the competition, a surprising underdog rose to the top. Season 1 Original Zelda was able to win match after match and secure her spot as the number 1. This fight was as close as it's ever been for the prize and Zelda was the much deserved Season 2 Champion! Securing another win for the Zelda Universe.

LAST SEASON was the season of Gauntlets and a power struggle to hold their rank from challengers as they climbed to the top. Mario was the one who rose to the occasion, snatching the title of Season 3 Champion!! Former S1 Champion Link was chomping at his heels most of the tournament but wasn't able to hold that position. As the competition heated up, many rose to the top and dropped him down to 4th. Newcomer Little Mac made a surprising rise to the top. Little Mac climbed 8 spots and managed to best Mario in a 1v1 and take the throne. But after a power struggle to hold the top spot, it was ultimately Mario who managed to take back his title and hold it to the end.

(These are the standings of S1/S2/S3)
*S2 Wasn't completed because my computer died and I lost everything, but Zelda was the winner.*

THIS SEASON there will be no Gauntlets, there will be no placements. Every round the amiibos will be grouped by random, each group will compete in 3 or more matches each (ranging from singles/omegas/items/teams/3-4mans) this way amiibos who may not be the best in 1v1 matches have a chance to show what their made of in other areas. In the end, the person in each group that has the lowest points will be eliminated...permanently from the tournament, until only 1 amiibo remains. That amiibo will be crowned the SEASON 4 CHAMPION!!
(Picture to give you and idea of how the groups are done.)

WAVE 1 saw a clear front runner. MEGA MAN dominated the competition in Group A, winning every match and being the first person of the season to win every match in their group. But not everyone could take the top spot, someone had to be named the loser. Having horrible luck and scoring no points/not winning any matches CHARIZARD was the first Casualty of the tournament. But to his credit he is a fresh amiibo and I don't feel he had enough experience to get further. Maybe next season!

WAVE 1 group b was a serious wake up call for last seasons winner MARIO. He was nearly eliminated by KIRBY who was the groups big winner scoring 5 points. Mario ended the group with a score of 0. Lucky for Mario, newcomer KING DEDEDE struggled in this group, ending with -3 and spelling the end of his Season 4 Journey. Hopefully these heavies will show more promise once they have had more experience.

WAVE 1 group c brought the most competition in wave 1, with the contestants being some of the best in the entire tournament. S1 Champion LINK started the tournament off strong scoring top points in his group, but he wasn't the only one. This group's competition was so high it ended in a 3 way tie for 1st place. Link was joined by NESS and TOON LINK. While at the bottom, it was a 3 way tie for last place. A Tie Breaker was put in place and last seasons runner up was shown the door early, LITTLE MAC was the 3rd amiibo to be eliminated. Unfortunately tough group, someone had to go.. had his group not been so difficult, I think Little Mac would've made it a lot further. Notable contestants in this group included S2 Winner Zelda, Consistent Top Contender Peach and Unstoppable Newcomer Lucina.

WAVE 1 group d was business as usual for SONIC. He made big strides running circles around the competition in his group and scored the most points. This group saw the likes of  strong amiibo such as Captain Falcon, Shulk and Diddy Kong. However, ROBIN wasn't able to make an impact. Last season he ran a surprising 8 man gauntlet before dropping a game. This group was just too much and Robin wasn't able to win a single match. I was hoping to see him make it further but I'm not surprised, he's new and not as experienced as some of the others.

WAVE 2 kicks off with 3 Smash Veterans colliding. CAPTAIN FALCON and PIKACHU make a big impact, catapulting themselves into the forefront. Pikachu wins Group A with a perfect score, with Captain Falcon following closely behind. After a grueling war, it was FOX who was sent flying, straight out of the tournament. No big surprise here, Fox has consistently done poorly in my tournaments and no matter how many times he's retrained he does consistently bad.

WAVE 2 group b was an all out war, the competition was high and the end result was a shocker. MARTH and LINK clash for the top spot, with Marth coming out ahead. Wave 1 Frontrunner SONIC was met with a score of bad luck. He went from the top all the way to the bottom and this was where his Season 4 Dreams were dashed. That's the name of the game in Season 4, you score the least points and you're out, there are no resting on placements or points this time. This Season is all about performance and in this wave, Sonic fizzled.

WAVE 2 group c saw another tie for first with TOON LINK and LUIGI both obtaining a perfect score. Toon Link is the first amiibo this season to score top points twice. Right now he's looking to be the front runner. But with that being said it's time to get down to business. There was one amiibo in this group that didn't manage a single victory and that amiibo was PAC MAN. He's new to the tournament scene so his exit isn't a surprise, hope to see him do better next season.

WAVE 2 group d was revenge for MARIO, knocking Kirby down a peg after almost putting him out of the tournament in wave 1. Mario's wake up call seems to have worked, getting a perfect score and taking away Kirby's chance at a 2nd Top Score Finish. Meanwhile, Kirby's rival META KNIGHT was not so lucky, unable to score a single victory in this group. Meta Knight joins the other newbies sitting in the Season 4 Graveyard. Who knows if he will improve, I hope he does and gets further next season.

GROUP STANDINGS SO FAR:
(Order from Top Score-Bottom Score)
WAVE 1:
A-MEGA MAN/Luigi/Wario/Lucario/Bowser/Fox/Meta Knight/Charizard
B-KIRBY/Villager/Pit/Rosalina/Pikachu/Pac Man/Mario/King Dedede
C-LINK/TOON LINK/NESS/Peach/Zelda/Yoshi/Lucina/Little Mac
D-SONIC/Ike/Shulk/Captain Falcon/Marth/Shiek/Diddy Kong/Robin

WAVE 2:
A-PIKACHU/Captain Falcon/Shiek/Rosalina/Mega Man/Lucina/Fox
B-MARTH/Link/Shulk/Yoshi/Ike/Ness/Sonic
C-TOON LINK/LUIGI/Bowser/Peach/Villager/Lucario/Pac Man
D-MARIO/Kirby/Wario/Zelda/Pit/Diddy Kong/Meta Knight

CURRENTLY it looks as though the season's front runner is TOON LINK. He is consistently scoring on top and not to mention was the only amiibo to get a perfect score in placements last season, ending the season in 3rd place. Is this going to be the season for the boy to take? Only time will tell. Aside from Toon Link, the most notably consistent amiibos this season are LUIGI and KIRBY who both scored 1st or 2nd in their groups so far.

WAVE 3 group a saw some of the top competitors in the whole tournament battling it out. LINK was this groups big winner, scoring 5 pts. Villager came in 2nd with 3 pts. At the bottom there was a 3 Way Tie for last place meaning it came down to a tie breaker where Shulk was able to end MARTH'S chances of becoming Season 4 Champion. This group had a lot of strong contenders, I was surprised to see Yoshi make it out of this group. He was the third person in the tie breaker for last, sadly it was Marth who bit the bullet and was eliminated and Yoshi lives through another round. Good to see him doing well for a change.

WAVE 3 group b saw the biggest upset of the tournament so far. LUCINA steps out of the shadows, getting a perfect score of 6 pts for this wave. While on the other end of the spectrum, ROSALINA shockingly takes an unlucky turn, dropping into last place and completely out of the tournament. I was shocked to see Rosalina eliminated so early, she's always consistently scored at the top of the list. I think the recent changes to my tournament format has put her in a tougher position. Less focus on 1v1s means she's going to have to work harder to stay on top.

WAVE 3 group c saw another tie for front runner NESS, who shared his first place victory with fellow newcomer WARIO. Both of them came out on top with only 3 pts each, meaing this group was very close. Mario came in a close 3rd and the bottom 2 was also a tie, seeing SHIEK and Pikachu battling it out to stay in the tournament. After a very close fight, it was Shiek who was sent out the door. I wasn't surprised to see Shiek fall out of the tournament here, this is around where I expected her to place, so nothing really out of the ordinary for this group.

WAVE 3 group d had 2 floaters finally get a group victory. IKE and DIDDY KONG take first, both scoring 3 pts, with fellow front runners Luigi and Mega Man right behind them scoring 2 pts each. The bottom was a tie for tournament favorite KIRBY who took on Pit in a grueling 1v1 battle to stay in the tournament. After a close fight Kirby had to say his goodbyes. A huge threat was upset and removed from the tournament which goes to show this could be anyone's game. This was a rough group, all the contenders were getting wins and it really just came down to that tie breaker. Kirby fell short, which is shocking but considering he had to face Pit to stay in the game, I'm not surprised to see him eliminated. If he had an easier group he probably would've moved to the next round.

WAVE 3 GROUP STANDINGS:
(Order from Top Score-Bottom Score)
A-LINK/Villager/Bowser/Shulk/Yoshi/Marth
B-LUCINA/Toon Link/Peach/Zelda/Captain Falcon/Rosalina
C-NESS/WARIO/Mario/Lucario/Pikachu/Shiek
D-DIDDY KONG/IKE/Luigi/Mega Man/Pit/Kirby

#SHORTIES seem to have taken over Season 4. With the amiibos smallest in stature being the most consistent this season, it seems all the talls will be out of commission very soon. Right now we are seeing TOON LINK/LUIGI/MARIO/MEGA MAN/NESS as the most consistent, scoring top to mid every round as the rest are dropping like flies. It's now down to the TOP 20. With 12 contenders already sent packing the competition is bound to heat up even more, 20 of the best amiibos are competing to be the Season 4 amiibo champion and in the end, only 1 will remain. Will the #shorties continue to dominate the competition? Or are we going to see a shift in power as the numbers dwindle down? Only time will tell. As we head into the Top 20, 4 won't be coming out. Performing poorly in this round will be a huge detriment because no one is safe. 2 Groups of 10 will be formed at random and they aren't guaranteed to compete in their strongest match type. Their match type and opponents will be chosen at random as well, so they could be going in with all singles matches or all group matches. It's down to fate.

TOP 20 group a was hectic and front runner NESS is the first to get 3 top score finishes this season. Surprisingly coming in a close 2nd in this tough group was Yoshi who managed to almost tie Ness for 1st, only 1 pt away. This group saw a variety of match types that were pulled at random and two amiibos didn't seem to have the luck of the draw scoring abysmally low. S1 Champion LINK says goodbye to his season 4 hopes and dreams, not winning a single match in this group after coming off of a top score in wave 3. Top score finishes seem to be a curse for a lot of people this season. Following close behind Link is floater CAPTAIN FALCON who tried to hang on but was unsuccessful. Falcon floated around the middle this season and didn't make any big moves, that isn't going to cut it in Season 4. There is no point system, they are fighting for survival every round and Falcon fell flat in the Top 20. By my surprise, Luigi also fell close to elimination this round, barely making it by. It's looking as though this round shook things up a bit, and big contenders are being shown the door.

TOP 20 group b saw the end of a front runner. SHULK made a big stride to the front of the pack, scoring 5 pts out of 6 for the top score against his 9 opponents. He had Mario, Villager and Zelda on his heels, all with a score of 3 pts. With a 3 way tie for 2nd, that left a 3 way tie at the bottom between LUCARIO, DIDDY KONG and WARIO. Only 2 were coming out alive. The three amiibos battled it out to stay in the competition and it was WARIO who sadly got the boot with Lucario coming out as the victor. Also, in the most shocking elimination of the season, front runner TOON LINK scores the least points of the group eliminating him automatically. This is a huge blow for #shorties and The Links, both being eliminated in the same round. It could've just been unlucky draws, getting match ups they weren't strong in, but that's part of the game this season, a well rounded champion will be crowned.

TOP 20 GROUP STANDINGS
(Order from Top Score-Bottom Score)
A-NESS/Yoshi/Peach/Lucina/Pit/Mega Man/Ike/Luigi/Captain Falcon/Link
B-SHULK/Mario/Villager/Zelda/Bowser/Pikachu/Lucario/Diddy Kong/Wario/Toon Link

NESS is the clear front runner to win the whole thing. He has placed in a top score every wave but 1 and has shown no sign of weakness. He has proven he's strong in any match type thrown his way. Item matches, team matches, free for alls, omega 1v1s... this amiibo can do it all and it doesn't look like he has any signs of slowing down. While Ness continued to dominate, others started to crumble. LUIGI and MEGA MAN took a plummet to the bottom of the pack. The TOP 16 will be split into 4 groups of 4, so there will be no where to hide. Can they bring it back next round, or are they going to be the next amiibos to hit the door? Stay Tuned!

TOP 16 group a saw Ness/Peach/Ike/Mega Man compete to stay in the game. This round each contender must face the 3 other contenders in a 1v1 and were randomly place in teams for a team match. Also, they are to compete in a Free For All as well as two other random match types. This group saw a lot of action but it was still NESS who came out swinging, sending his competition out of the park. Though the points were close, it was IKE that fell short, taking his final lap. Ike did a lot better than I thought he would, I was a little skeptical about heavies but now that the match types have been mixed up, it's getting these heavies a lot further. Also, can anyone stop Ness?!

TOP 16 group b had Yoshi/Shulk/Villager/Diddy Kong. The group was very close for 3 of them but YOSHI was definitely out classed. He wore out his welcome, with an abysmal score of -5. It was time for Yoshi to say goodbye. At the top, it was a tie for 1st with 2 amiibos who are no strangers to a top score finish. SHULK and VILLAGER secure their spots in the top 12, with Diddy Kong close behind them. No big surprises in this group, I was amazed to see Yoshi make it all the way to the top 15, so I was content with his placement. He typically doesn't do very well and it's reassurance that my new training method has done some good. Villager and Shulk are both extremely strong amiibos and I think both of them have a good chance of winning the whole thing.

TOP 16 group c was the end of another top contender. With Lucario/Bowser/Pit/Luigi competing, you know a strong contender was going to be sent packing. As LUCARIO went super saiyan in the Top 16, he scored the most points of all the groups. (7 Pts) The rest of the group was very back and forth and came close between the other 3. With a 1 point difference between the bottom 2, it was LUIGI who was eliminated from the competition. Pit ended with a score of 1 pt, while Luigi ended with 0 pts. Bowser continues to float by, hovering around the middle of the pack. His end score was 3 pts. I didn't expect Luigi to win the tournament but I did think he'd get a little further. This was a tough group and it's getting down to the wire, all the contenders left are strong and deserve their positions.

TOP 16 group d was the final group of this set. This group had the likes of Pikachu/Mario/Zelda/Lucina. Another group that had top notch contenders meant another strong amiibo was going to be shown the door. LUCINA rose to the occasion and proved that even though she's a newcomer, she can hang with the best of them, beating out 2 previous amiibo champions in her group for the top score. PIKACHU in regular fashion fizzled out towards the end of the season. He starts out strong but buckles as the seasons come to a close. Pikachu always does well, but he never grabs that top spot, so this was really not a surprising elimination.

TOP 16 GROUP STANDINGS
(Order from Top Score-Bottom Score)
A-NESS/Peach/Mega Man/Ike
B-VILLAGER/SHULK/Diddy Kong/Yoshi
C-LUCARIO/Bowser/Pit/Luigi
D-LUCINA/Mario/Zelda/Pikachu

THESE are the contenders to watch right now. The past few waves have played right into the hands of these four amiibos. LUCINA is a newcomer to the tournaments, coming in late last season she wasn't able to make it very far, so now she has something to prove. SHULK has stayed consistent since his arrival in Amiibo Wars and is making big waves this season. NESS, much like Lucina is a newcomer to the scene and has devastated the competition, he is still the front runner and favorite to win. MARIO Season 3's big winner is still holding strong, consistently scoring top 2 every round. Will he be the first amiibo to win 2 seasons? Only time will tell! With 20 amiibos eliminated, only 12 remain. The Top 12 will see the end of 4 more amiibos. Who will rise and who will fall? Stay Tuned!

TOP 12 group a saw the awakening of the beast. BOWSER pulled out a top score when it mattered most, taking out some top contenders and dealing another blow to the #shorties. With Diddy Kong and Zelda coasting on to the top 8, that left a struggle for the bottom 3. Two amiibos in this group were to be eliminated. With VILLAGER unfortunately scoring the least amount of points in the group, he was automatically eliminated. Leaving Pit and Mega Man in a tie. After a grueling close tie breaker, Pit proves again that he deserves to stay in the tournament, eliminating front runner MEGA MAN to secure his spot. It's getting down to the wire, not many amiibos are left and with the competitors dwindling down, strong contenders are gonna start dropping like flies.

TOP 12 group b spelled the end of a major player. SHULK continued his dominance, not dropping a single match. He sent front runner NESS out of the tournament at his own hands. Ness was unable to win a single match in this group, really dropping the ball after winning countless groups throughout the tournament. Also, the consistently powerful PEACH met her end. She did very well in this tournament. Starting her journey at the bottom, she worked her way up to being a top contender throughout the seasons and her placement holds true to that. Ness was a monster in this tournament, it was shocking to see him go out here, Shulk and Mario really dominated everyone in this group and sadly Ness and Peach got caught in the crossfire.

TOP 12 GROUP STANDINGS
(Order from Top Score-Bottom Score)
A-BOWSER/Diddy Kong/Zelda/Pit/Mega Man/Villager
B-SHULK/Mario/Lucario/Lucina/Peach/Ness

SHULK has taken this tournament by the throat the past couple of waves. He has now taken out 2 fan favorites in Ness and Toon Link. Is he going to win this thing? Right now it's looking quite likely. Shulk is consitently winning groups with perfect scores and really proving he's a force to be reckoned with. Last season Shulk was only able to hover around the middle of the pack, struggling to get past the likes of Zelda and Lucario. With both of them still in the tournament, will they spell his end? Or will he be able to claim that top spot? Stay Tuned! The Top 8 is up next and it's going to be brutal. Only the best of the best remain and there's no telling who will be the next to go.

THE TOP 8!!!

THE TOP 8 definitely are worthy of being where they are. SHULK is fairly new to Amiibo Wars and made a mark in his debut appearance Season 3, almost achieving top 10. ZELDA previous Season 2 Amiibo Wars champion has always done consistently well. While some top contenders seem to flounder, she consistently stays at the top and is looking for her second championship win. BOWSER a powerful force that has recently awakened into a nightmare. He is the master of Free For Alls/Team Matches and can hold his own in 1v1s with the best of them, this could be his tournament to win. LUCINA is a newcomer who has left a serious mark on Amiibo Wars. She has taken out many top contenders and it doesn't look like she has any intention of stopping. MARIO Season 3's champion, he has consistently stayed at the top the entire tournament aside from his near fatal run in with Kirby early on. Mario is an amiibo they don't want to have to fight in a 1v1. He dominates almost every opponent he's placed against and he has a good chance of winning for the second time. DIDDY KONG started strong in Season 2 and has stayed consistent throughout. Could this be his season to take? He has what it takes to win it all. PIT proves himself to be a 1v1 force, though he may struggle more in free for alls, Pit has shown that when push comes to shove, he will fight it out to stay in this tournament. LUCARIO has had a bumpy journey, from being a terror in season 2 to barely holding his head above water in season 3, it looks like he's ready to redeem himself and finally take a tournament for himself. Everyone in the Top 8 have the potential to win Season 4, but there can only be 1. Coming up next, 4 more amiibos are sent packing as we head towards THE FINAL 4!!

TOP 8 group a was grueling. After each contestant was to face all other contenders as well as 4 other matches picked at random draw, it was SHULK who continued his dominance, getting his 4th group win in a row, setting the record for the whole tournament. Mario continues to chomp at his heels coming in a close second. DIDDY KONG just fell a little short, had he been able to beat Mario in a 1v1, Mario would be out and he'd be the one advancing. Season 2 Champion ZELDA struggled this round, only winning 1 match out of 7. Another champion bites the dust, but one still remains. Can Mario derail The Shulk Hype Train? Only time will tell.

TOP 8 group b proved that BOWSER is a definite force. Bowser tied Shulk for the most points in his group and secured his spot in The Final 4. Lucina also put up a great fight keeping herself in the game. LUCARIO and PIT were not so lucky, both of them struggled in the group and are forced out of the tournament. These groups were grueling and now it's down to 4, the end is closing in and only 1 will remain. It was good to see Pit and Lucario get far in this tournament considering they both struggled a bit in Season 3. Hope to see either of them grab a championship in the future.

THE FINAL 4 has been decided. The battle has been long and grueling, the competition has been tough. As many would rise to the top, they quickly fell to the bottom and out of the tournament. Only 4 were able to endure the obstacles that came with this crazy adventure. BOWSER dominated the Free For All scene, making it clear that this was his season and he wasn't going anywhere. MARIO last seasons champion looks to be the first to become champion twice. He is a powerhouse in 1v1s and is the only previous winner still remaining. LUCINA the underdog of the competition, her fresh talent has thrown many off guard. Can she sneak past these powerhouses and win the championship? It could be the season for an upset. SHULK has proven himself this tournament by holding the most top score victories. On a win streak of 4 in a row, can he continue his dominance of the tournament and become the champion? You'll have to stay tuned to find out!

THE FINAL 4 was a fight to the death. SHULK picks up his 5th straight top score victory, winning 5 out of the 7 matches and beating the other 3 contenders in a 1v1. Bowser was able to skate by with only 1 point separating him from the other 2. LUCINA and MARIO were left in the dust. Lucina made big waves this tournament and I feel that she has the potential to take the whole thing next season with a little more experience. Mario was unable to beat Bowser in a 1v1, sealing his fate for season 4. Both of these contenders did amazingly well, but it came down to 1 point for each placement and that's where the cards lay.

THE CLASH of the titans is finally here! SHULK and BOWSER are the final 2. Competing for the Season 4 Championship! Shulk is the clear favorite, dominating the 2nd part of the tournament and proving himself as an unstoppable force. Bowser looks to secure his first championship, he has had his ups and downs throughout the seasons but has definitely proven himself now to be a top contender. 30 other amazing contenders have fallen and only 2 remain to compete for the prize. Shulk shows no signs of stopping, and only one obstacle remains in his way. Can Shulk down the beast and become the season 4 champion? Or will Bowser call forth another devastating upset of the tournament. It's down to the wire and the Best of 5 Final is next!

(THE FINALS!)

AFTER 4 rounds, a winner is decided. SHULK slays the beast to become THE SEASON 4 CHAMPION!! Bowser put up a good fight but was unable to beat Shulk in 1v1s, Bowsers weaknesses showed in the final, though he was able to take one match off of the new champion. Shulk dominated this competition, winning 6 top scores in a row and the most of the entire tournament. Once the Shulk train started rolling, no one could stop him and now we have a new champion for Season 4!

SEASON 4 CHAMPION!!!
SHULK
